When a stomach bug, a migraine or a bad viral illness means you cannot keep fluids down, intravenous fluids can turn the day around in about an hour — and cost far less than the same bag given in an emergency room.

When IV fluids help
- Vomiting or diarrhea that will not let you drink
- Dehydration from fever or heat
- Migraine that has not responded to oral medication
- Severe nausea, including from illness or travel
- Feeling wrung out after a prolonged viral illness
What happens
A provider examines you first. This is a medical visit, not a menu — we decide together whether fluids are the right answer, and check for the causes that need something else entirely. If IV therapy is appropriate, a nurse places the line and you rest while the bag runs, usually forty-five to ninety minutes. Anti-nausea medication, pain medication and electrolytes can be given through the same line.
We provide IV therapy on clinical grounds, as part of treating an illness. We do not offer cosmetic or wellness infusion packages.
When to call 911 instead
Urgent care is not the right place for a life-threatening problem. Call 911 or go to your nearest emergency department for any of these:
- Chest pain, pressure, or tightness
- Trouble breathing or shortness of breath at rest
- Sudden weakness, numbness, facial droop, or trouble speaking
- Heavy bleeding that does not slow with firm pressure
- A head injury with confusion, repeated vomiting, or loss of consciousness
- A seizure, or fainting without a clear cause
- Severe abdominal pain, or a stiff neck with fever
- Thoughts of harming yourself
Is it covered by insurance?
When it is medically necessary, yes — it is billed as part of your visit. Self-pay patients fall under our expanded or advanced visit pricing depending on what else is done.
How long does it take?
Plan on about two hours door to door, including the examination and the infusion.
Can children have IV fluids here?
Yes, for mild to moderate dehydration. A young child who is very dehydrated or lethargic belongs in a pediatric emergency department, and we will send you there.
