Stomach and urinary care

Belly pain and urinary symptoms both need testing to sort out safely. We can run urine, blood work and imaging here, and tell you whether this is something to treat at home or something that needs a hospital.

What we treat

  • Urinary tract infections and bladder infections
  • Kidney infection symptoms, with referral where needed
  • Nausea and vomiting
  • Diarrhea and viral gastroenteritis
  • Food poisoning
  • Constipation
  • Heartburn and reflux
  • Mild to moderate abdominal pain of unclear cause

Urinary tract infections

A urinalysis takes minutes. If it points to infection we start antibiotics the same visit and send a culture, then adjust the prescription if the culture shows a resistant organism. Fever, back pain or vomiting alongside urinary symptoms can mean the infection has reached the kidney, which we evaluate carefully.

Dehydration

If you cannot keep fluids down, intravenous hydration here is usually enough to get you back on your feet without an emergency room visit.

When to call 911 instead

Urgent care is not the right place for a life-threatening problem. Call 911 or go to your nearest emergency department for any of these:

  • Chest pain, pressure, or tightness
  • Trouble breathing or shortness of breath at rest
  • Sudden weakness, numbness, facial droop, or trouble speaking
  • Heavy bleeding that does not slow with firm pressure
  • A head injury with confusion, repeated vomiting, or loss of consciousness
  • A seizure, or fainting without a clear cause
  • Severe abdominal pain, or a stiff neck with fever
  • Thoughts of harming yourself
Can I get treated for a UTI without coming in?

We test before treating. Symptoms overlap with other conditions, and guessing leads to the wrong antibiotic.

What abdominal pain should go to the emergency room?

Severe pain, pain in the lower right abdomen, pain with a rigid abdomen, pain with vomiting blood or black stools, and pain in pregnancy — go to an emergency department for any of these.
