COVID-19, flu and strep testing

Three infections account for most winter visits, and all three are worth distinguishing, because the treatment is different for each. We test for all of them on site and give you the result before you leave.

What we offer

COVID-19

Rapid antigen testing with results during your visit, plus PCR when a confirmed result is needed for travel or work. We prescribe antiviral treatment when you qualify and start it within the window where it helps.

Influenza A and B

A rapid swab with results in about fifteen minutes. Antiviral treatment shortens flu meaningfully when started in the first forty-eight hours.

Strep throat

A rapid strep screen, with a culture sent when the rapid test is negative but the exam still points to strep. Antibiotics go to your pharmacy the same visit.

When to come in

  • Fever with body aches, especially in flu season
  • A sore throat with fever and no cough
  • A known exposure plus symptoms
  • Symptoms in someone older, pregnant, or with lung, heart or immune conditions
  • A documented result required by an employer, school or airline

Treatment is time-sensitive

Antiviral medication for both influenza and COVID-19 works best when it starts early. If you are in a higher-risk group, come in on the first or second day of symptoms rather than waiting to see if it passes.

When to call 911 instead

Urgent care is not the right place for a life-threatening problem. Call 911 or go to your nearest emergency department for any of these:

  • Chest pain, pressure, or tightness
  • Trouble breathing or shortness of breath at rest
  • Sudden weakness, numbness, facial droop, or trouble speaking
  • Heavy bleeding that does not slow with firm pressure
  • A head injury with confusion, repeated vomiting, or loss of consciousness
  • A seizure, or fainting without a clear cause
  • Severe abdominal pain, or a stiff neck with fever
  • Thoughts of harming yourself
Do I need an appointment for a test?

No. Walk in during open hours at either clinic.

Can I get a test for travel?

Yes. Tell the front desk at check-in which test your airline or destination requires and what documentation you need, and we will make sure the paperwork matches.

Is testing covered by insurance?

Testing performed as part of a medical visit is billed to your insurance like any other visit. Self-pay pricing is published on our billing page.
